What
is migration?
Migration
is simply the movement of people from one place to another.
It can be described in two forms:
- National
migration - moving from one place to another
in the same country.
- International
migration
- moving to a place in a different country.
Migration
can also be broken down into the following:
- Emigration
- when a person leaves a country
- Immigration
- when a person arrives in a country
A
person who leaves a country or area is known as an emigrant
and someone who arrives in a country or area is an
immigrant.
Why
do people migrate ?
Animals
and birds migrate to move to warmer areas in the winter and
return in the summer. People move for many different reasons,
sometimes for more than one reason.
These
reasons can be divided into Push
and Pull

move from, they are usually problems people have

move to, they are good points which encourage people to move
